November 22, 1948 - July 29, 2018
It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Garry Wallace Fernley at the age of 71.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jewel, his children, Connie (Murray), Gennie (Vic), Blair (Zenna) grandchildren, Courtlyn, Justin, Jordyn, Sierra, Brayden, Maddi, Dana, Gage, Sharla, Trey, Katrina, Sophia & great grandson, Rowan aka "Big Boy".

He is also survived by his siblings, Ron (Sherry), Judy (Don), Don (Colleen), Barry (Debra) and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his father Raymond, mother Grace, sister Heather (Jack).

Garry was born in Milo, Alberta and lived in Cochrane, Calgary & Vegreville. In 1990, they moved west to live in and around Vernon, BC and then in 2012 settled in Parksville. He worked various jobs including being a business owner and a farmer. He was a die-hard Edmonton Oilers fan and, in the summer, enjoyed the Toronto Blue Jays, AKA watching paint dry.

He had a huge passion for fishing and always had a story of the really big one that got away. He was also fondly loved by his kids, nieces and nephews and grandchildren and was always remembered for his mischievous bantering.

The family would like to extend a thanks to Parksville Home Support for all the care they provided to Garry for the last four years.

Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.

A celebration of life will be held in Vernon on September 29, 2018.
