It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear father, George Vasile Alexander. George was born at Victoria, BC on August 17, 1917. He passed away in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on March 25, 2004, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his wife Daphne; brothers Tom and Nick; sisters Annie, Maggie, Mary; and granddaughter Nikki. Survived by his sisters Florence Cracknell and Laura Ventrella; sons Douglas (Donna), Darrel (Diane), Darcy (Rhonda); daughter Darlene (Ron) Towle. George is also survived by his grandchildren: Bonnie, Darlene, Jorgie, Brody, Breanne, Bailey, Brett, Daesha, Darron and Darissa; great grandchildren: Kaitlynne, Kennedy, Brianna and Dalton. George retired from Canada Safeway Ltd. after 43 years and pursued his favourite pastimes, which were gardening and fishing in the Saanich Inlet while living in Brentwood Bay. George and Daphne moved to Qualicum Beach where they had vacationed many summers. George's remaining years were spent in Parksville near his family. He had a great sense of humour, liked by everyone, never complained and lived a long content life. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from the Parksville Home Support with special thanks to Darlene and Ron for their loving care and devotion during George's final years. There was a family service at the Parksville Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville BC Monday, March 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Parksville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of BC, 890 West Pender Street, Suite 600, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9.
