Gerald (Gerry) Poirier born to Romeo and Beatrice Poirier on December 13, 1930. Passed away September 25, 2019
surrounded by his loved ones. He was raised in Bodmin, Sask. but spent most of his life in Port Alberni, eventually settling in Parksville.
Survived by his loving wife, Doris Poirier of forty years.They enjoyed camping and traveling to the interior of B.C. allowing him to finally enjoy some R&R.
He bought his first house at the young age of seventeen and worked every day up until he retired.
He will be remembered and missed by his four children, Linda, Garry (Diana), Deb (Victor) and Bruce( Sabrina). Eight Grandchildren, David, Derek, Tasha, Sean, Rylan,
Kim, Jesse, and Amanda. Five great grandchildren, Emma, Nicole, Felicity, Grayson and Phoenix.
He had eight siblings, predeceased by his sister, May and brothers Donald, Johnny and Norman. Survived by his sisters, Myrna and Ruby, brothers Robert and Roi. He had a life long friendship with his brother-in-laws Mel and Wes, and sisters-in-laws, Sharon, Charlotte, Bev, Grace and Ruth, survived by his beautiful Aunt Bertha.
Gerry was loved and respected by his forty seven nieces and nephews. He worked over twenty five years for Cameron Division as a Chargehand. He had a great love of his dogs, skiing , hiking , motorbiking , bowling, curling and woodworking.
In Lieu of flowers a donation to NatureTrustofbc.ca 500-888 Dunsmuir St. Vancouver V6C 3K4 would be appreciated as Gerry was a member and believed in land conservancy.
Family and friends are invited to attend Gerry's Celebration of Life in Duncan on November 2nd, 2 pm, in the hall at First Memorial 375 Brae Rd V9L 3T9.
