Glenn Stuart McCurrie

October 28, 1958 – May 14, 2014

After a courageous battle with cancer, Glenn passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 with his loving family at his side. He was 55 years old.

Born in North Vancouver, Glenn moved to Coombs in 1972 and graduated from QBSS in 1976. After graduation, he followed in his dad’s footsteps and became a journeyman carpenter in 1980.

For years Glenn worked alongside his dad and Uncle Jack, and when they retired, he ventured out on his own. In 1997, he started Glenn McCurrie Construction. During his construction years, he met and developed many friendships in the business community. Glenn was a board member of the ODCA and a member of Qualicum Chamber of Commerce.

In 1981, Glenn met the love of his life, Brenda. On May 16, 1983, they were married and in the years to follow they had 3 children, Ryan, Evan, and Lauren. Glenn was the ultimate family man who enjoyed hiking, golfing, biking, skiing, camping, and travelling with his family. Glenn’s awesome sense of humour and quick wit entertained us right to the end.

A gentle man, with a contagious smile.

Glenn was predeceased by his father, Norman in 2003 and his mother, Eileen in 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Brenda; sons, Ryan and Evan; daughter, Lauren; sisters, Cathie Lewis Hardy and Brenda J. McCurrie of Port Moody, BC; father in law Dave McEachern of Qualicum Beach; mother in law, Helen McEachern of Burnaby; sister in law, Karen (Giovanni) Porco; and brother in law, David (Elly) McEachern. Uncle Glenn will be greatly missed by Carrie, Jenny (Jeff), Tyler, Matthew, and Cathryn. A highlight this past year was Glenn becoming a Great Uncle to Ryder. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins in both Canada and USA.

Special thanks to Kim, Matt, and Vanessa and many friends

for all your love and support.

In lieu of flowers, Glenn’s wishes were for donations to be made to BC Cancer Foundation Vancouver Island (Equipment Replacement), 2410 Lee Ave., Victoria, BC V8R 6V5.

An Open House will be held in Glenn’s honour from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the Reception Centre at Yates Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 24th.
