JENKS Gordon McCully

passed away peacefully on January 5, 2007 at his residence in Hollyburn House in West Vancouver B.C.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Grace Elizabeth Jenks (nee Giffin) in 2002. Gordon was born on December 12, 1918 in New Westminster B.C. the son of Max Vinton Jenks of Parrsboro, N.S. and Mary Ellen Jenks (nee McCully) of Turo, N.S. During WW II he served as an officer in the Canadian Navy overseas where he was involved in convoy protection, including on the Murmansk run. It was while stationed in Halifax, that he met his wife Grace. After the war Gordon rejoined the Royal Bank and served in various senior managerial positions in Kamloops, Port Alberni, Vancouver and Victoria. He and Grace had 60 wonderful years together, and they retired to their lovely Qualicum Beach home in 1977. Gordon was a quiet and gentle man with a great sense of humour and an uplifting spirit. His friends and family were very important to him.

Gordon will be greatly missed by his son David

(Marilyn) grandchildren Alan (Jen), Andrea (Andrew), his son Bruce (Ann) in Holland, grandchildren Michael,

Annemarie and his daughter Eleanor (Bruce) grandchildren Jenn (Mike), Colin (Linnea), and Sarah. He will also be missed by his brother Ken (Ella) and sister Marjorie, along with his nieces and nephew.

The family conveys a very special thank you to the management and the staff of Hollyburn House who have created a wonderfully stimulating and friendly environment for our father over the past four years. We would also like to extend our sincere thank you to Dr. Jennie Shaw, Kath-Ann, Lynn and Jan for their support over the past four years.

A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at Boal Chapel 1505 Lilloet Rd in North Vancouver BC on January 27 at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in Gordon’s name would be appreciated.
