It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Richard Smith. Gordon passed away peacefully at 3:35 in the morning on August 18, 2016 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a lengthy battle with liver disease. He was 45 years old. Gordon is survived by his parents William and Louise Smith; his three brothers Michael, David and Jason Smith; his four children – daughters Danielle Hucul and Kiera Smith, sons Kenneth Crockett and William Smith; and his four grandchildren – Nickolas and Damon Hucul, Shyla Murtagh and Kanen Chalifoux. You will be missed dearly, Gord. You were around so little and left us too soon. You are a shining testament to that old meme that we don’t know the value of loved ones until we lose them. You will never be forgotten, no one will ever take your place. A loving father and grandfather, a trusting brother and son. We will love you forever, Gord, a memory that will never end.
