Gordon Surtees SPENCER

Gordon Surtees SPENCER

July 12, 1922 – November 9, 2016

After a full 94 years of life, Gordon Surtees Spencer gently and quickly passed away on November 9, 2016 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Gordon was predeceased by his much-loved wife of 69 years, Margaret (“Peigi”) in 2013. He was the father of two sons, John (Maureen) and Phil (Tevis); grandfather to Liam, Andy, Kathy, Ailish, and Conall; and great grandfather to Elliot and William. He also leaves behind many relatives in Canada and England.

With his family, Gordon immigrated to Canada from his home in Liverpool, England in 1957, settling first in Kelowna, and then Kamloops, before retiring and finally moving to Qualicum Beach in 1996.

Gordon was defined, as were many of his generation, by his service to his nation in WWII, in his case as a pilot in the RAF. He was bright, interesting, and loved for his gentle nature. Gordon’s greatest commitments were to his family and his faith. His love of Peigi was inspirational.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm

on Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way in

Qualicum Beach, BC.
