Hans Joachim Heine
January 10, 1931 – April 27, 2015
Hans passed away on Monday, April 27th at the Royal Jubliee Hospital in Victoria.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing; sons, Hans (Cecila) Heine of Kamloops, BC and Bernd (Marianne) Heine of Castrop Rauxel, Germany; grandchildren, Melanie (Mike), Mark (Sigurdrifa) of Castrop Rauxel, Germany, Erik (Crystall) of Temperance, Michigan, USA, Ellie (Wayne) and Candace (Jessie) of Kamloops, BC; great grandchild, Ava Cavil; family members, Helmut and Ingrid Pelzer; numerous other family members; close family friends, Werner and Elke Stoll; and all the members of his singing groups. In December of 2006, Hans was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Erika.
Hans was born in Dresden, East Germany. He escaped to West Germany where he worked as a supervisor in the Erin Coal Mine for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. Erika and Hans immigrated to Canada in 1985 to be closer to their oldest son and spoil a new group of grandchildren.
1987, Hans and Erika relocated to Parksville from Kamloops where they lived a full life. Hans was very active in the German community and various singing groups in Parksville and Nanaimo.
