Dec 12, 2017
Harold Banks passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the age of 84 years.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mavis who was the love of his life.

Harold and Mavis raised a beautiful family Cheryl (Tim), Bryan (Muriel), Scott (Shelley) and Brent, and was a wonderful grandfather to his four grandchildren Jason (Katie), Blaine (Samantha), Koa and Kalani.

Harold is survived by his sister Ruth Krienke; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold worked for 40 years at SaskTel before retiring at the age of 58.  He began his career as an apprentice lineman, and worked his way up to several managerial positions in business sales and data services.  His career took his family to Weyburn, Saskatoon and Regina.  Along the way, he returned to University for certificates in Public and Business Administration.

After retirement, Harold and Mavis moved to Parksville, BC where they enjoyed many years of West Coast Island living before moving back to Regina to be closer to family.  Harold and Mavis enjoyed vacationing many times in Mexico and Hawaii.  Harold was an avid volunteer serving for over 50 years with the Lions Club.  He served in many positions with the Lions including President.  Even in retirement, he could often be found volunteering his time with the Lion's Club building playgrounds, and raising funds for many Lion's Club projects.

Harold was a long-time member of the YMCA, and an avid exercise enthusiast.  Even in his late 70's he could often be found at the gym running 10 kms on the treadmill, followed by a lengthy weightlifting session.  His lifelong dedication to fitness kept him physically fit, and was a true inspiration to all who knew him.

In 2016 Harold lost his wife, life partner and soul mate Mavis to cancer which broke his heart.  All those who knew Harold and Mavis could attest that never was there a clearer case of life long true love, than the love that existed between these two.

The Banks family would like to thank the staff at Santa Maria for the care they provided to Harold for the past four years.

A celebration of Harolds life will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
