Hazel Mary (Millett) GREENWAY
“Unconditional Love”
passed away peacefully Dec 15, 2008. Hazel is deeply missed by her loving husband of 56 years, John (Jack) Greenway; children Murray, Leslie, Joni Barker & Bee Woywitka; grandchildren Jakki & Michelle; sisters Joyce Brown & Barbara Fish. Beloved daughter of Fernley & Winnififred Millett, Hazel was raised at Blairmore AB, an avid skiier, swimmer & singer. One of the Miss Blairmore Girls, Hazel sold warbonds to raise funds for the war effort.
Hazel’s mild manner cloaked a brilliant mind. In 1949, she became 1 of 2 female chemical engineers at University of Alberta., then a researcher of Imperial Oil, until dedicating her life to her family.
Jack & Hazel moved to Acme Alberta where Jack was a veterinarian & Hazel led the choir & girls’ groups; then Abbotsford BC during the children’s teens. Upon retiring to Qualicum, Hazel enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, swimming and volunteering in the St. Marks Altar Guild.
Despite her failing health, she maintained her caring attitude to ward her family & friends until the end.
Celebration of Hazels Life Saturday, December 19th at 2pm, St Marks Anglican Church, Qualicum, BC with a tea to follow.
Those desiring so, may donate in Hazels memory to St. Marks Anglican Church,
