Helen Lorraine Manson

Manson, Helen Lorraine, 88, of Parksville, British Columbia, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 29th surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born in Vancouver General Hospital on February 1st, 1929 to Elvin and Lulu (Stewart) Clarke.

Helen attended St. Paul's Hospital School of Nursing. Shortly before graduation in 1952, Helen went on a blind date and later married the love of her life, Stewart Manson. They were married in 1953 and enjoyed 64 years together. After raising their four children, Helen worked as one of the first Enterostomal Therapy nurses in BC. She founded the Ostomy clinics at St Paul's and Surrey Hospitals and also the Ostomy Care and Supply Center in New Westminster, BC.

Helen is lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Stew, son Willy (Carol) Manson, daughter Andy (Terry) Manson, son Jeff (Guiru) Manson and daughter Sue (Greg) Mayes.

Helen was known as Meme to her Grandchildren Will, Krystal, Jacquie, Ashley, Robert, Chris, Logan, Marlee, Evan and Susan and her Great-grandchildren Lucas, Easton, Sawyer, and her many nieces and nephews. 

Helen is also survived by her brother Al and sister Marg, preceded in death by her brother Jack. 

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr Bell for his years of care and to everyone at Arrowsmith Lodge for creating a caring loving second home for our mom. 

A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Saturday Nov. 18, 2017 at Craig Bay Clubhouse, 1301 Cape Cod Dr., Parksville between 2-5 pm.
