Henry E. (Harry) Cross

July 12, 1915 - October 1, 2004

Together forever with his loving wife "Jakie" who passed beyond this Earth some nine years and nine months earlier. Harry started life in Brooklands (Winnipeg). He worked in the Whiteshell and at Clear Lake in the hard times of that era. He joined the Army, later transferring to the Air Force and after the war ended, he settled in Flin Flon with his new wife, Ethel "Jakie" Dudley. He worked for the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company Electrical Department until his retirement. Here he built a home at 387 Princess and a cottage at Sourdough Bay, while helping Jakie raise their three sons.

He retired with his loving wife living at Sourdough Bay and Texas until their move in 1990 to Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary together with family in 1991. Harry mourned the loss of Jakie at the end of 1994. He maintained their home on "The Island" until 2003, making a short stop over in Kelowna prior to moving back to Manitoba and nearer to family in May of 2004. He celebrated his 89th birthday with many of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren present. Before dawn on October 1, 2004 his tired old body yielded to his desire to rejoin Jakie. He will be missed and remembered by many friends and surviving family, three sons: Dale (Gerrie) The Pas, Manitoba; Roger (Maxine) Neepawa, Manitoba; Kelly (Millie) Thunder Bay, Ontario; seven grandchildren, Gordon (Barbara), Trent (Kathy), Carmen, Graham, Phillip, Kerrie and Trevor; three great-grandchildren Caiwyn, Parklan, Holden. A family service and interment was held at the Winnipegosis Cemetery on October 9, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
