Henry James Walter WEATHERLEY

February 5, 1925 – November 15, 2016

Henry, better known to his family and friends as Harry, passed peacefully at Stanford Place on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016.

Harry was born in Balham London, England to Harry and Ivy Weatherley. At the young age of 17, he joined the Royal Navy and served on minesweepers and in convoys during World War II. When the war was over, Harry joined Lloyd’s of London as an insurance broker and thus began his long career in the insurance industry.

In 1950, at an ex-serviceman’s dance at the Victory Club in Marble Arch, he met the love of his life, Patricia and they were married on July 5, 1952. They immigrated to Canada in 1956, eventually settling in West Vancouver where their three children, Nancy, Sally, and Mark were born and raised.

Harry and Pat moved to Qualicum Beach in 1990 where Harry continued his lifelong commitment to public service, eventually serving as Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Club, and President of the Qualicum Beach Legion.

Those who knew Harry will always remember his quick wit, warm smile, and charismatic personality. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pat; their three children; grandchildren, James, Emma, Madeleine, Dominique, and Charlotte.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Stanford Place for the care and kindness given to Harry during his time with them.

A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on
