Herman Edwin "Ed" Taylor was born on December 2, 1950 in Ponoka, Alberta and passed away on January 16, 2022 in Ponoka, Alberta.
Ed grew up in the Ponoka and Wetaskiwin area where he spent his youth breaking horses. He enjoyed playing sports including baseball, hockey, basketball, and curling. His passion for horses led him into rodeo, horse racing, mountain trail riding, and working cattle.
Ed was a jack of all trades and no stranger to hard work. He excelled as a welder and earned his Red Seal Journeyman Certificate. Ed raised cattle and four children on the family ranch.
Ed is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wendy; daughter Robyn (Nathan) Goofers and grandchildren Logan, Lana, Chloe, and Conor; daughter Terra (Matt) Hallett and grandchildren Moria and Colby; daughter Amber (Jordan) Mantei and grandchildren Sasha, Sierra, and Wyatt; son Dustin (Megan) Taylor; his siblings Bob (Sue) Taylor and Judy (Gordon) Grinde; mother-in-law Mary (Ross) Fleischman; as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
