Herschel SHORE

January 1, 2009

1928 ~ 2009

A beautiful life has been completed, beloved, adored and cherished by his wife, children and grandchildren and many, many friends.  Herschel died quietly in the midst of a joyous evening meal prepared by his bride of one year with candles glowing, his favourite foods, laughter and great conversation.

One week shy of his 81st birthday it was time.  He had been suffering from heart problems for many years but soldiered on for the sheer love of life and his new wife, Michele, confounding doctors at his unexpected longevity.

Growing up in Toronto, he met his first wife, Dorothy and together they had three children, Mitchel, Reesa and Leeba who succeed him.  Herschel and Dorothy moved to Parksville and loved their new surroundings.  Together, they raised their family until Dorothy succumbed to cancer.

Through the years, Herschel’s circle of friends kept on growing. He also spent many happy hours in his woodworking shop making small and large treasures for his friends and his home.  He was ingenious creating hoists to lift the large elements he was working with and delighted in working out his engineering. But when he met Michele, a new and special light shone throughout their courtship and marriage as love had been brought back into his life.

We all wish this life could have continued for many years, and speaking for all who were in his life,

we will miss him terribly.
