Snyder, Horace Vincent

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body.”

Philippians 3:20-21 NIV

Horace, age 90, went to be with his Lord Jesus January 21, 2006 at Glengarry Nursing Home, Victoria BC where for 3 years he was cared for by a very compassionate, encouraging and devoted staff.

Horace led a very active, vital life. Born on July 6, 1915 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, he had one older brother Reginald (deceased) and one younger sister (Perciss [Gerry], Toronto). Horace grew up in Waterloo, then London, Ontario. Finishing secondary education and a Special Commercial course, he later studied Hospital Organization and Management. He also had 4 great grandchildren in England: Joshua, Zachary, Kaitlin, and Brianna Thomas.

He was the head of a family that will miss him immensely but carry with them not only the life he gave them, but many memories of his wisdom, fun, jokes, teasing, and his active encouragement in their Christian walk. His sister, Gerry knows him as a loving brother who shared the same enjoyment of music as she does. His many friends in BC, Ontario and around the world will remember him as a friend who supported them, loved life, shared generously and always had an encouraging word.

In Sudbury he was Director, St. John’s Ambulance; President, Victoria Order of Nurses; Director, Rotary Club; and a member of Kinsmen and the YMCA Men’s Club; - in Victoria - Director, James Bay Multi-Level Care Society, Board Chairman of First United Church, and currently a member of Pipeline Church.
