Passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of his family. Howard is survived by his wife and love of 53 years Ruth, daughters Dianne Poulter, Pearl Sherris and Evada Olstead (Andy Porteus), sons Miles Sherris (Tammy) and Logan Sherris (Melodee), son-in-law Joseph Brisotto, also his twelve grandchildren; Tara, Craig (Amber), Karen, Natasha, Nicole, Adam, Miles, Douglas, Brandon, Quenton, Jordan and Mikayla. Also survived by two brothers, Douglas Sherris and Melvin Sherris. He will be remembered by his 7 brother-in-laws, 2 sister-in-laws and their spouses. Howard is predeceased by daughter Rozanne Brisotto and son-in-law Ronald Poulter, his mother and father, Logan and Lottie Sherris and 3 brother-in-laws and 1 sister-in-law. Howard successfully started and built a number of businesses in Northern Alberta; a service station, hotel, and dealership, to name a few. He and his wife Ruth retired to Parksville in 1980. Five years later he bought a trawler fishing boat, took to the sea and became a Commercial fisherman. His adventures with this lasted until as recent as 3 years ago. Howard's love of the outdoors, everything to do with nature; gardening, fishing, hunting, canning, smoking fish, wine making, cooking and his ability to grow just about anything was legendary to all who knew him, He was fiercely protective and supportive of his kids and grand kids and was immensely proud of them all. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ascension Catholic Church 887 Wembley Road, Parksville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that if you wish donations can be made to the Cancer fund of your choice.
