April 7, 1938 - July 6, 2019
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Huakaiwaka Davis. Hoki as he was affectionately known by family and friends, left us peacefully on July 6, 2019.
Hoki was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly Ann Davis, and by his brothers Turi and Roger.
Hoki is survived by his brother Ricky, his sons Mark Turi Davis, Jason Whare Davis, relatives Patrick and Dolores Bell, lifetime dear friends Joe and Linda Tibble, as well as longtime Parksville dear friends, Tony and Janice Barto.
Hoki was a kind, humble, loving husband and father. He and Bev moved to Parksville from North Vancouver in 1989, and were active in the community, including establishing and running the " Second Chances" charity for dogs.
Hoki was born on April 7, 1938 in Tuakau, New Zealand. He served in the New Zealand Navy as a seaman on the HMNZS Royalist for 8 years before marrying the love of his life, Beverly Mcleod.
Hoki brought his proud Maori culture with him to Canada, and on many occasions he performed the traditional songs and dances at functions with his wife Bevy and his extended Canadian Maori family. We take comfort in knowing he can now join his loving wife Bevy, to sing and dance together once again.
