Ian Brown of Qualicum Beach, passed away peacefully in Nanaimo Regional Hospital on St Valentine's Day, surrounded by his family.
Ian was pre-deceased by his wife Eileen and his brother Brian.
He was much loved by his sons Stephen (Janice) from Kamloops and Nicholas from Edmonton, Alberta; grand-daughters Lizanne (Christian) and Lindsay; his great-grandchildren Ryley, Eliana, Arabella and Eli, his sister Lorna, sister in law Janet and his loving companion June Oliver.
He will be sadly missed by his many friends and extended family in Qualicum Beach, Vancouver, Leduc, Alberta and Northern Ireland.
Ian emigrated to Canada from his home in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland in 1971.
His family followed him in 1972 and they settled in Leduc, Alberta. In 1987, Ian retired to beautiful British Columbia, finally settling in Qualicum Beach.
Following his wife's death, his golfing friends became his second family and he was a proud member of Eaglecrest and Arrowsmith Golf Clubs.
Ian was diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer in 2015 and despite the excellent support he received from his medical team, his courageous battle against the disease ended when he contracted pneumonia in early February.
