March 11, 1930 - December 14, 2018
We are sad to tell all our family and friends of the passing of our Mother, Ina Lucille Havard, better known as Tony Havard.

Mom was predeceased by Ernie, her husband of 69 years, son-in-law Gary, daughter-in-law Esther, grandson Jeff and sister Hazel, brother-in-law Gill.

Mom is survived by her 5 children, Linda, Douglas (Laura), Wayne, Barbara (Paul), Michael (Tish), 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mom is also survived by her sister Opal, brothers Larry, and Lorne (Audrey) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Killam, Alberta, March 11, 1930 and passed away December 14, 2018 in Port Alberni with her family by her side.

Mom spent her life caring for her family. She cooked in numerous cafes in Port Alberni in the 50's and 60's, at the Three Sisters, Sunbeam, Dugout, and her favourite restaurant, the Arlington. She came down from Lac La Biche, Alberta, with Dad at Christmas of 1947 for the holidays. They arrived in Victoria to sunshine and warm weather, green grass and flowers, and she vowed never to move back to the prairies. They spent 25 years in Arizona during the winter and summers in Parkville after Dad retired. Her suppers were amazing, she was a fabulous cook, and thought nothing of having 25 or 30 people for meals during the holidays.

After the tidal wave in 1964, mom and dad moved down to Whiskey Creek where they built a house on 40 acres. After many years there they retired to Parksville, collecting many friends along the way.

She always wanted to move back to Port Alberni, so in 2016, after Dad passed away, she moved into her own apartment. She had many of her family visiting, and looking after her. After a short battle with cancer, she passed away in Ty Watson House.

The staff and volunteers at Ty Watson were wonderful to Mom, and she was well taken care of. She loved being there, knowing it was her last stop on her life's journey. The family is truly grateful for the wonderful care and compassion shown to our mother during her final days.

Mom requests there be no formal service but donations in Mom's memory may be made to Ty Watson House/Alberni Valley Hospice Society, 3038 - 3rd Ave, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 2A5. Stories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.chapeofmemories.ca.
