January 7, 1921 - August 27, 2018
Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. - "Taps"

"Al" was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 7, 1921. He entered active military service with the RCAF at age 18, in 1939. He served in Europe during WWII as a rear Air Gunner in a Wellington Bomber. As the war was ending in 1945, Al met the love of his life; Pauline.

"Albe" or "Al baby", as he was affectionately called by his great grandkids, enjoyed retirement living in Qualicum bay, where they built their home. He had a green thumb, and enjoyed gardening, painting anything he could get his hands on, and spending winters snorkeling looking for loot along the beaches of Waikiki. He loved telling us stories of his childhood, and we would listen intently for hours. Grandpa was a great man, a great gentleman, with a lovely lady, grandma, always at his side.

Grandpa is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Pauline. His children; Karen (Ron) (both pre-deceased), Ellen and Doug (Bobbie), Grandkids; Rhonda (Phil), Heidi (Lucky), Nick (Nicole), and his "Great" grandkids, Robert, Noah and Eden, along with many nieces and nephews.

When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.

Many thanks for the kind and wonderful care from Dr. Hunter, Home Care Nursing and the staff at Trillium hospice.
