(December 24. 1922 -May 16. 2011)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father at the age of 88. Dad was predeceased by his wife Eva, his parents Bella and Hugh, and 7 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his three children Carol (Dirk) Van Ek, Doug (Bea) and Hugh (Jean) as well as special niece Debbie Ross, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters Isabel Whitney and Beulah Shier, and one brother Gordon.
Dad grew up in Three Hills, Alberta and worked at many jobs before settling in Okotoks, Alberta where he did business as Meston Agencies Real Estate and Insurance for over twenty years. He semi-retired to Parksville in 1975 where he managed the Mini Warehouse until he retired at age 65. Dad was a member of St. Columba Presbyterian Church, and a 63 year member of Freemasonry.
A Memorial Service was held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, 921 Wembley Road, Parksville on Saturday May 21st at 1pm.
