May 18, 1934 - Mar 16, 2018
Jacque passed away peacefully on Friday, March 16th at the Arrowsmith Lodge Care Facility in Parksville where she had resided since January of 2011 after receiving a diagnosis of dementia.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Georgina and John Probe, Jacque worked as a District Health Nurse in Indianhead, Saskachewan after graduating as a nurse in 1953.
Jacque was predeceased by her first husband, William Gall; brother, Gerry Probe; father, John Oliver Probe; and mother, Georgina Anni Probe (nee Breeze). She leaves behind her loving sons, Robert and Richard Gall and her loving a devoted husband, Cornelis (Kees) van der Leek.
After early retirement in 1990, Jacque and Kees traveled the USA and Mexico by camper van and enjoyed sailing the Vancouver Island coastline. They were very active at the care homes prior to her diagnosis where they entertained the residents. Jacque enjoyed playing piano, guitar and singing. Kees would play the harmonica, and together, made beautiful music for one another.
Jacque was also an active member of a book and bridge club with neighbours and friends. They joined the Qualicum Newcomers Club and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships made there.
Special thanks to Dr. Waite for the medical services provided to Jacque, as well as the nurses and care aides who cared for her during her short palliative care. The family are very appreciative of the care that Jacque received during her time at Arrowsmith Lodge.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband and all who shared in her life.
