NAPPER, James George (Jim)

born September 3, 1919, in Hamilton, ON. Jim passed away peacefully in Eagle Park Health Facility, Qualicum Beach, BC on December 15, 2003.


He leaves his loving wife Evelyn, of Parksville BC, son David (Esther) of Kelowna BC, daughters Sylvia (Frank) of Parksville BC, Lynda (Frans) of Qualicum Beach BC, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister Gladys, and brother Donald, (Nellie) both of Hamilton Ontario, and nieces and nephews.

Jim worked for the Hamilton Street Railway of Hamilton Ontario and the Steel Company of Canada in his early years before moving to Victoria, BC in 1953, where he worked at Island Tug & Barge and started with the BC Ferries in 1962. Jim and Evelyn moved to Salt Spring Island in 1966, where he worked as a Chief Engineer for the BC Ferries until he retired in Parksville/Qualicum Beach in 1984. His hobbies were few, but included fishing, boating and fixing cars.

Jim was a member of the Gizeh Shrine Clubs, Admirals Lodge AF & AM, and the SIPS and Ballenas Canadian Power and Sail Squadron.

The family would like to express their thanks to the kind and thoughtful staff of the Eagle Park Health Facility and Drs. M & J Atherstone, and J Wagenaar, for their loving care during Jim’s stay.


He will be sadly missed by those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Burned and Crippled Children or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. No Memorial Service by his request.
