Born April 18, 1928 in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland our Dad, a lively leprechaun of a man, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2018. Quick to laugh and just as quick to shed a tear, Dad was a warm and loving adventurer who always believed something better was just around the corner.
He loved and admired his wife "Mike" of 64 years and he adored his daughter Dawn, his son David and his son-in-law Jim. Although his three grandchildren Jessie, Nicholas and Meaghan and their mother Melanie live in New Brunswick he loved their visits and they in turn have fond memories of his quirks, his quests and his energetic escapades.
Like many of his generation Dad didn't have the benefit of much formal education but he was remarkably well read, adept at figures, broad minded and fond of music, movies and theatre. Those who knew him know how much he enjoyed a flutter on the horses and a wee flirtation with the ladies.
Dad suffered from dementia the last several years of his life but throughout he kept his quick wit and humour.
We cannot thank enough the wonderful hard working staff at Beckley Farm Lodge in James Bay for their dedicated care of our Dad the past two years and similarly the caring staff at Eagle Park Lodge who looked after Dad in the most challenging stage of his illness this past 3 months.
There will be no service by request but in Dad's honour feel free to raise a glass, pat a dog, place a bet, tell a joke or, best of all, hug a loved one. He would be delighted by such a legacy.
