April 18, 1928 to September 27, 2014

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Benjaman Peterson of Victoria and Port Alberni, B.C.

Jim will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth and children, Patti (Denny) Johnson of Virginia, Ron (Eleanor) Peterson of Port Alberni and Deborah Peterson of Toronto, his many grandchildren and great-gandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Douglas and Ron and sister Beverley Larsen, and predeceased by his brothers Raymond and Gordon.

Jim was born in Victoria on April 18th, 1928. During WWI at the age of 15, he joined the Canadian Merchant Navy, and sailed the world carrying supplies and troops to war zones. He also enjoyed volunteering his time speaking to schools during Remembrance Day ceremonies.

The Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Canadian Legion, 4680 Victoria Quay, Port Alberni.
