Passed away very peacefully, surrounded by family at Eagle Park Care facility in Qualicum BC.

He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Georgette (Poirier), brother Norman of Mesa, Arizona, Sister Madeline of Montreal ,PQ and sister Gladys of Hamilton, Ontario, Step sons Rene, Lee, Dan, Andy and Bill Poirier of Vancouver Island. He is predeceased by his first wife of 56 years Cecile (Sommerfield)

Born in Saint Hippolyte, Quebec . One of 11 children, Jim was brought up in a healthy Roman Catholic environment. Two of his sisters , Edna and Evelyn, belonged to religious orders, Evelyn in missionary work in Asia and Edna using her musical talents in various churches and seniors facilities in Montreal.

At 18, Jim left home to join the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he served for 7 years as an aircraft mechanic in Belleville, Comox and other Canadian locations. After completing his military service, he worked in the construction business building homes and in the hairdressing field where he was most successful. After moving to BC and having had no children from his previous marriage, Jim happily adopted his new life with Georgette and sons.

Jim was a kind affectionate gentleman, loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his past and present families.
