March 25, 2024
I have had to say goodbye to my best friend & love of my life. Jan was taken from us by a sudden cardiac arrest on March 22nd. She was resuscitated and air lifted to Royal Jubilee CCU in Victoria, but a recovery was not possible. Jan was comfortable and surrounded by all five of our children (now adults) of the blended family that she and I have raised over the last 18 years.
Jan enjoyed an early retirement from Surrey Memorial Hospital by moving with me to Vancouver Island six years ago with our cats and Aussie Shepherd dog.
Two of our children followed from the mainland and became Van-Islanders as well. The other three children remained on the mainland but have experienced & appreciate why we fell in love with Qualicum Beach, and where Jan and I were married five years ago outside by the ocean.
Jan loved to go hiking/tenting in her younger years, more recently RVing / collector car travelling in BC & western United States. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing, and was a great mother to all five children. We will all miss this amazing mother and woman dearly.
Jim McLean & family
Janet is predeceased by her mother and father, Robert and Patricia Grantham. She is survived by her brother, David, her husband Jim McLean and their children, Spencer, Jaidyn, Humfrey, Franchesca, and Sean.
There will be a celebration of life for Jan at the Shady Rest Pub on June 14th, 11:30 to 1:00.
