Jean Ferguson Anderson

ANDERSON, Jean Ferguson

August 28, 1926 - July 28 2006

Jean was born in Prestwick, Scotland. She was predeceased by her husband Ian, her parents, and sister Margaret.

Jean and Ian immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1957, making Toronto their first home where Jean was employed as a secretary for the Red Cross. Making their way west, Jean and Ian retired to Parksville on Vancouver Island in 1984 where they continued to enjoy their passion for sailing, and Jean had time to pursue her love of painting, gardening and entertaining. She was an active member of the DeCosmos Art Group, and took several courses through the Federation of Canadian Artists. Jean was a talented artist, and an extremely intelligent, kind and generous woman with a unique sense of humor.

In April 2006, Jean was diagnosed with ALS. She fought a courageous battle and was able to retain her optimistic and positive attitude.

She was “one of a kind”. Those of us who knew her will miss her.

No service at her request.

Jean’s ashes will be buried beside her husband Ian in The Garden of Memories at the St. Columba Church in Parksville.
