Sep 30, 1917 - May 30, 2018
JEANNETTE VIRGINIA COWHIG nee CALLINAN, of Abbotsford BC passed away suddenly on May 30, 2018 aged 100 years. She was the daughter of the late John William and Emma Marie Callinan of Toronto, Ontario.

Jeannette was born in Buffalo, New York on September 30th, 1917 and raised in Toronto. On a blind date in 1942, she met a young naval officer Harold James Cowhig and shortly after that meeting they married. When Harold received his naval discharge in 1946 they moved to Vancouver and raised a large family.

She was predeceased by Harold her devoted husband of 52 years, her infant son David, son Peter, daughter Ann Grace and her grandson Alexander Grace.

She is survived by her children Mary, Gemma, John, Michael, Paul and Margaret, 10 grand children and 18 great grandchildren.

MUM was dearly loved by her family, extended family and all who knew her. Our mother was Mum to many of our friends and Ganny to many more.

All of us who loved her will miss her terribly. She was so admired and was the "sun" around which our family revolved, but now that shining light is gone.

Jeannette was an amazing person. People often described the serenity and peace they felt in her presence. It was real. She was a gentle lady, intelligent, interested, and interesting----beautiful to the end.

A memorial mass took place in St. James Catholic Church, Abbotsford, BC on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018.
