In loving memory ~

On June 20th, 2025, Jeannie Maclagan passed away. She was a remarkable woman with an outsized personality and generous spirit. Whilst married for almost two decades to David Maclagan, Jeannie was often preparing dinner parties for many persons and was a terrific cook.

She became a 'Snowbird' and owned properties in California to which she'd travel and spend several months each year.

Her love of horticulture developed into a vocation in gardening that spanned many years, culminating in the landscaping of public parks and golf courses. Jeannie became a keen and skilled golfer, following being a badminton and tennis player.

Born in Bar, a town in what was then Yugoslavia, now Croatia, Jeannie's early years were very difficult, due to her father being a dissident of the regime in that country.

She and her family emigrated to Canada in her teens, and she relocated to Edmonton where she met and married David. He had two sons, Brad and Kent, who lived with their birth mother, and it was agreed they would come to live with their dad and new stepmother, Jeannie.

Jeannie generously assumed the role of being their mother but did not have children herself.

In the 1970's the family moved from Edmonton to the West Coast near Vancouver. In the '80's she and David relocated to Harrison Hot Springs to a large property that allowed for massive gardening projects.

Following their divorce, they moved to nearby Chilliwack in different years and Jeannie decided to move to Qualicum Beach in 2006.

She received exemplary care from The Comfort Keepers, Dr. John Dalla Lana, and the staff at The Gardens.

Her sister-in-law Denise and friend of many decades Diane both did so very much for Jeannie, and she loved them as they loved her.

She was truly unique and will be greatly missed.
