On August 22nd Joan Evelyn Baddeley (née Fox) passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. Born in Pontefract, Yorkshire, England on December 10th, 1933 Joan bid farewell to her country of birth and sailed across the Atlantic with her two eldest sons to join her husband in Canada in 1954. Joan was an elegant woman who loved gardening, music, travelling and valued her family above all. She was a fantastic cook, a fabulous baker and a woman ahead of her time. Joan leaves behind her much beloved husband of 66 years Ralph Baddeley; her sister Enid; her children John, Michael, Anne and Andrew; her grand-children Adric, Colin, Gwen, Jessica, Joshua and Nyssa and; her great grand-children Anadella, Arayah, Azaelle, Landon, Milan, Naomi and Trinity. Despite the geographical distance separating Joan from many of her family members, the multiple generations that have grown around her remained her most cherished accomplishment. No matter where she lived, Joan always made the most of every situation and found ways to contribute meaningfully to her community, friends and family. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
