Joan Ivy Allen (nee Garland)

Joan Passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter and son in law by her bedside. She is predeceased by both her parents and her husband Walter Allen. The two married in 1978.
Joan is survived by her daughter Patricia Ann Garland and her husband Clive Eric Pemberton, and her much loved British cousins from England. She is also survived by Walters children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had many treasured friends all over Europe, Australia and British Columbia.
Joan was born in London, England and immigrated to Canada in 1955. She worked her way across the country to a new life in B.C. She was a strong socialist and trade union supporter working for I.W.A. and Operating Engineers and retired to Vancouver Island making a new home in Parksville.
Joan loved gardening and travelled the world. She raised corgis and loved the wild birds that found a haven in the beautiful gardens she cultivated with Walter.
Joan was a long time SOS and SPCA volunteer and generous in her community.
A strong, independent woman, much loved and very missed. She is Unforgettable.
