Joan Madge Douglas
(Nee Pitcairn)
January 25, 1930 – June 7, 2013
In loving memory of Joan, beloved wife of Ian Douglas.
Joan was born in Vancouver and lived most of her working life there. Although Joan worked primarily in the insurance business, she was tireless in assisting Ian in the construction, or remodelling, of five houses in North Vancouver, Whistler and Parksville.
Ian and Joan were married over sixty years. She is survived by her niece Wendy Basil of Simi Valley, California; cousins Alice Bacon and Marie Levack of Vancouver and Carol Crashaw of Campbell River.
Joan enjoyed ballroom dancing, cards, travelling, and dogs. Joan remained in touch with a group of Kitsilano High School chums known as “The Kitsies”.
The family would like to thank the staff of Trillium Lodge whose daily care over the past two years made a positive difference in her final struggle.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Joan’s memory at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in Joan’s name.
