Morton-December222016

Joanna passed away peacefully Dec. 3, 2016 at Dufferin Lodge, Nanaimo BC. She was born in Trail BC. Feb. 3, 1932 and was predeceased by her husband James in 2014. They had been married 59 years. Joanna is survived by her daughter Kathryn Armstrong (Gary) and grand children Patrick (Michelle) and Kathleen Gregson (Brian). Sons Rob and Gord Morton and grand children Kyle (Lindsay) and Samantha. She was continually amazed and delighted to have 5 great grand children, Isabelle and Elodie Armstrong, Madeline and Sylvie Gregson and Parker Morton. Joanna was a secretary for many years at Woodlands School in Nanaimo before retiring to Parksville BC. She loved to sew and was active for many years in the Anglican church communities of St. Edmund’s Parksville and St. Mary’s Nanoose Bay. She also enjoyed camping with her family when they were young and later she and Jim toured the province in their red and white volkswagon van. “Grandma Jo” shared many fond childhood memories of attending church camp in Trail when she was growing up. She was so pleased that she could share this tradition for many years by taking her grand children to Camp Columbia on Thetis Island. Mom loved her family very much and we will miss her. We would like to thank the staff at Dufferin Lodge for the care and compassion you gave our Mom. There will be an open house for family and friends in the New Year. If you would like to honour Mom’s memory please consider making a donation to the Precious Jewels Ministry (preciousjewels.org).
