John Christopher Rose, died peacefully Sept 2, 2022 of kidney failure at age 74, with the help of MAID. Born in East York , Ontario, November 17, 1947.
He had an amazing life: Editor and political reporter with Broadcast News; Newsroom development on a videotext trial with CBS in the mid-80's; Returned to Canada in 1986 to work for CTV National News including developing the first 24hour news channel in 1997; Several years of teaching broadcast journalism and film production at private schools in Toronto. Journalism gave way for more of his creativity, this time with food when he trained as a chef, a move which led to many memorable dinners full of great food and humour for friends, family and colleagues. Retired to Vancouver Island in 2013 to pursue another passion, golf, but he confessed, unlike his professional career, he never got better.
Married three times, including 28 years with his last wife and best friend for 32 years, Virginia Gibberd. Chris gathered amazing friends and acquaintances along the way consistently showing his generosity, opinions, kindness and quick wit to them all, including delivering a regular dose of his edgy humour on FaceBook. Always a great conversationalist and entertainer, Chris also loved his own company and was often more comfortable on his own.
Chris leaves his sister Susan Hoffman and her family, Virginia, and the Kuzminski/Hodgson families. No service at his request. Yates Funeral Services.
Chris was a true friend, loved well and missed by all.
