It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of John Eli Johannessen on Sept. 5th, 2005 in Pembroke, Ontario. John was born December 11th, 1963 in Port Alberni and spent his youth in the Parksville area graduating from Ballenas High. In 1985 John enlisted in the Canadian Forces and served his country well with two tours of duty overseas in Bosnia and Kosovo doing his part with the peacekeeping effort there. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Dragoons and was proud of his accomplishments and his service to his country. He lived overseas in Germany for several years as part of his service. John was a true Canadian and loved both playing and watching hockey games. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his family. He is survived by his wife Genny, his mother Ruby Antrobus (Mike Krevinsky), his father Art Johannessen (Betty), his brothers Chris (Pearl), Ray, Larry (Laurie), William (Sharon), Peder (Karen), Scott (Carrie), and David Johannessen, his sisters Lorraine Ragan (Mike), and Karen Sekulich (Rick) as well as 20 nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 17th, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4816 Compton Road, Port Alberni with Bishop Tom Housholder presiding.
