GUDMUNDSON, John Irwin
September 9, 1920 - January 12, 2007
John passed away January 12, 2007 at the Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria BC after a short illness and 2 months in hospital. John loved his 3 sons, Edwin of Coombs, John (wife Beate) of New Westminster and Murray (partner Michael) of Victoria, and will always be very fondly remembered by them as a great father. John’s 2 grandchildren Ann and Michael remember a soft-hearted man who always kept track of their interests and hobbies. John was born and raised near Boissevain Manitoba. He joined the army in 1941 and served in England, North Africa, Italy, Holland and Germany during the second world war. He later also served in the Korean war. John met Esther and married in 1954. They lived in Waseca Saskatchewan until moving to Edmonton in the late 1950’s. Esther passed away in 1968 after which John took his sons to Parksville in 1971 where he operated Jem Auto Service for many years before his retirement.
A memorial service will be held for John at Yates Funeral Home Parksville BC, Saturday January 27 at 2:00pm - 248-5859.
