John (Jack) Toews

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Toews, of Parksville BC, who left us on September 7, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on May 24, 1935, in Carmen, Manitoba. John lived a life rich in love, service, and passion.

John had a distinguished career with BC Tel for 35 years, where he dedicated many years of his life to serving the community and honing his skills. He was also a proud member of the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, where he retired as Captain, leaving a legacy of courage and commitment to the safety of others.

Beyond his professional life, John had a deep passion for fishing and wood carving, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature. Another pastime activity John enjoyed was playing pool. His love for these hobbies provided him with both relaxation and creativity, which he shared with those around him.

John was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Abe and Helena Toews, as well as eleven brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his wife Patricia Lewis, her three children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. John also left behind five children, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, six siblings and a large loving extended family.

Memorial services will be held for John at Yates Funeral Services, 1000 Allsbrook Road, on October 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
