Hettle, John "Lloyd"

June 28, 1922 ~ March 11, 2008 passed away in Nanaimo, B.C.

Lloyd was predeceased by his infant daughter Robin and is survived by his wife Laurie, his children Janice (George), Tracy, Alan (Beth) and Shelley, his grandchildren Laura, Scott, Krista, Andrew, David and Daniel, his sisters Marilyn Ardron of Edmonton, Alta. and Vanessa Lee of Orlando, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was born in Kelvington, Sask. and left the province at age 17 to begin a very successful 60-year career in the pulp and paper industry. During this time, he dedicated his working life to papermaking in Ocean Falls, Port Alberni, Powell River, Vancouver and Rothesay, NB, and was known for his level-headedness and calming influence. He semi-retired in June 1987 and moved to Parksville with his wife Laurie. Lloyd is remembered with much love by his family and many close friends for his kindness, diplomacy and sense of humour. He is remembered by his colleagues as a leader, a mentor and a gentleman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Knox United Church, 345 Pym Street, Parksville, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
