HOSSACK, John Samuel, CD
of Parksville, BC, passed away peacefully onDecember 23, 2003 at Eagle Park Lodge inQualicum Beach, BC, at the age of 84 years.
John was a retired Warrant Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, having served 29 years both in Canada and Europe, and had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over sixty years.
He was born in Killarney, Manitoba on November 10, 1919 to John “Jack” and Martha Hossack (nee Woods). He was married to Rosa Baudais of Henribourg, Saskatchewan in July of 1943 and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary together earlier this year.
John is survived by his wife, Rosa, his son John “Jack” Hossack and his wife Cherryl of Parksville, British Columbia; his son Douglas Hossack and his wife Janice of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and his daughter Rosemarie Tranfield and her husband Alex of Tofino, British Columbia; as well as five grandchildren, Jennifer Poier of Edmonton, Alberta; Katherine Hossack of Isle des Chenes, Manitoba; Spencer Hossack of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Emily Tranfield and Eric Tranfield both of Tofino, BC; and one great-grandchild, Bryden Alexander Poier of Edmonton. He is also survived by his brothers William “Bill” Hossack and James “Jim” Hossack and sister, Jessie Miller, all of Killarney, Manitoba; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by his sister Agnes Posnett (nee Hossack) of Killarney, Manitoba.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Killarney United Church, 432 Williams Avenue, Killarney, Manitoba, at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon followed by an interment at Killarney Cemetery. Please contact the Killarney Funeral Home for details.
A reception in celebration of John’s life will be held in Parksville, British Columbia at a later date.
The family has requested donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada in John’s memory. A special thanks to all of the staff at Eagle Park Lodge in Qualicum Beach who lovingly cared for John during the last year of his life.
