Born July 2, 1924 in Rava Ruska, (near Kiev), Ukraine, passed away with family at his bedside in Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC on August 3, 2009.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rose in August 1997. John will be lovingly missed by daughters Nadine of Qualicum Beach, BC, Barbara of Parksville, BC, son Patrick of Port McNeill, BC, granddaughter Lisa of Richmond, BC, great grandson Michael of Richmond, BC, and brothers-in-law Bill & Paul of Armstrong, BC. He will also be greatly missed by his many wonderful nieces and nephews and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at
Yates Funeral Chapel on August 15, 2009
at 2:00 p.m.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be served in the Reception Room adjoining the Chapel after the service. The family welcomes everyone to come, visit and eat while sharing memories, thoughts, solemn and hilarious stories as a celebration of John’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4-172 2nd Ave. West, P.O. Box 1299, Qualicum Beach, BC V9K 1T3.

Shirk of Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria; and a special thanks to “Julien” the RN whose awesome care of John in Royal Jubilee Hospital was very much appreciated. Very special thanks to Bev Walkey of Yates Funeral Service, whose sensitive and compassionate manner of serving our family, in our deep sorrow, made our burden lighter and easier to carry.
