KERR, Joseph Gesner

April 10, 1914 to April 24, 2006

After a brief illness, at the Delta Hospital, in Ladner, BC, in his 92nd year. Joseph is mourned by his wife Florence of 66 years, children Robert (Dale), Josephine, Geoffrey and Stephanie (Alexander), 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother Loring and sister Isabel. Predeceased by sisters Marion, Evelyn, brother Jack and grandson Garrett.

Born and raised in Fox River, NS, Joe attended Mount Allison University where he and Florence Garrett met and later married in the Mount A. Chapel. Upon graduation from Nova Scotia Technical Institute in 1936, with an Engineering degree (Geology), he worked at I.N.C.O. in Sudbury, ON, and was Chief Geologist in Creighton Mine and Duparquet, QC. He took his family to South Africa with South African Engineering Ltd., an offshoot of the Bedeaux Co. He then joined Moore Corp. where postings included the U.S.A., Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto and Jamaica. After 30 years with Moore, Florence and Joseph retired in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island for many happy years and were always active members of their community.

Joe’s wishes were he be cremated and the ashes held by the family until Florence’s passing, at which time a joint service will be held and they will be interred together at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, in Qualicum, BC.
