July 10, 1949 - May 1, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron. He struggled for years with COPD and finally lost his battle on May 1st with his daughter by his side.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Ardy and daughters Launa, Sharon (Jason), Rhonda (Dan), and sons Joey (Kristen), Bobby along with 7 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren and his brother Gerry (Betty) Hebert of Port Alberni. He had a huge extended family that will also mourn his loss.
Ron left Albertville, Saskatchewan where he was born on July 10, 1949 with a train ticket and $10.00 in his pocket to go live with family in Port and try to find work. After trying several jobs, at the mill, on a tugboat, mechanic and hauling trailers for Barry's towing, his final stop was with Superior Propane where he spent 30 years driving the big yellow propane truck up and down the island.
Ron not only a Jack of all Trades, was also community minded. He spent time on the Errington Fire Department and 10 years with District 69 Minor Softball Association as a Coach, Treasurer/Secretary, and the President.
Being self taught on the Tandy 1000 computer paved the way to Administrator on many local Facebook groups ("Keyboard warrior") where he will be missed by many.
The family would especially like to thank Home Support and NRGH for the care Ron received during these restrictive times.
