June 29, 2004

BROWN, Joyce Anne (nee STEWART)

Born October 10, 1934 in St. Albert, Sask. Left this world peacefully from Qualicum Beach, B.C. on June 29, 2004. Joyce was pre-deceased by her father, Melville A. Stewart and her three brothers Melville, William and Dawson Stewart. The love, compassion and kindness of Joyce will be sadly missed by her mother, Mrs. Mary A. Stewart of Parksville; daughters Brenda L. Brown, Margaret E. Poustie and Kathleen A. Pearce; grandsons Matthew B. West, James R. Bingham, Stephen J.A. Dewey and Thomas J.R. Dewey, all in the Qualicum area. Joyce touched the hearts of all her relatives and friends and will be missed by all. Mom's family moved to Victoria in 1940. She attended Queen Margaret's School in Duncan, Little Flower Academy in Vancouver, and then trained as an RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in Victoria. Mom nursed on and off while raising her family and later devoted herself to nursing and caring for others in her home. Her favourite memories were of her school days, nurses training and time spent with family and friends at home and in the Cariboo. A reception to share memories and say good-bye will be held at the Parksville Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9th. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by Cdn. Diabetes, Assoc., Forward House in Parksville, Cdn. Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Our thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Fletcher and those who helped in Mom's battle with cancer. Your support and kindnesses are deeply appreciated. "Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be." (Grandma Moses)
