JOYCE BROOKS
(1934-2011)
Joyce Brooks (nee Lankester) passed away in the presence of her family on the afternoon of January 31, 2011, after a brief and unexpected illness. Born in Burlington, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Merle Lankester and pre-deceased by her sister Barbara (Campbell). She was the beloved wife of Robert Brooks for 56 years and mother to Greg (Vera), Carrie (Alex) Brooks-Joiner and Tom (Karen). She will be
greatly missed by her grandchildren: Avery, Wiley, Nick, Camilla, Laura, Hadley, Gabrielle, Will and Jordan. A former resident of Burlington and Sudbury, Ontario, she has been a resident of Qualicum Beach since 1990. Active in the local community, she is a former board member and President, Society of
Organized Services (S.O.S.), volunteer at Milner Gardens, former President of the Primrose Strata Council, Secretary-Treasurer of the Villa Rose Strata Council, and volunteer at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, Qualicum Beach. Her favorite hobbies include researching family genealogy, home renovations, purging clutter, thrift store treasure sleuthing, and playing bridge. Financial gifts to the Neurosurgery Program, Vancouver General Hospital Foundation or Neurology, Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
