Joyce Hope (née Batsford)
Our mom died peacefully in Nanaimo on
December 25, 2014, at the age of 80.
Joyce is survived by her son Bill (Susan) of Calgary, daughters Terry Lynn Hope (Steve) Richard of Claremont, CA, and Trish Hope of Parksville. Her sister Ruth also survives. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill (Parksville) and her son Calvin (Calgary), and her brother Ron (Lethbridge).
Joyce had six grandchildren who brought her much joy: Stephen and Katie Hope (Calgary), Cara Jamieson (Ladysmith), Timothy and Tarilynn Nudd (Nanaimo), Caleigh Richard (Claremont), and one grat granddaughter Emma (Ladysmith).
Joyce was born on July 25th, 1934 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Martha and Charlie Batsford. She married Bill in 1952 and moved to Banff to raise their children. Joyce was an avid sportswoman. She enjoyed and competed in bowling, curling, and golf which she played to the end. Her straight drives, long putts and quick wit will be greatly missed.
The family gratefully requests in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Hospice Society of Nanaimo in honour of Joyce.
