November 11, 1937 – March 1, 2014

Karl passed away suddenly on March 1st at his home in Qualicum Beach. He is survived by his loving daughter, Heidi and her husband Ron Hunter; beloved granddaughters Jessica & Megan; as well as his dearest friend Albert. Karl also leaves behind close family, numerous nieces & nephews, family in Germany and many wonderful cherished friends.

Karl was a highly skilled bricklayer who took great pride in his work and that of his crews. He willingly shared his knowledge of the trade with numerous apprentices, many of whom have gone onto rewarding careers, including his very grateful son in law.

Karl will be remembered with fondness for his German accent, his hearty laugh, and contagious smile (sometimes quite mischievous), his unconditional generosity, his love of life, sports, cards, music, dance & all animals. He enjoyed good food and he would happily raise a glass to all. Karl’s love of family & friends always gave him the most happiness.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Karl’s honour at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds Hall on Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider honouring Karl’s memory with a donation in his name to North Island Wildlife Recovery, PO Box 364, Errington, BC V0R 1V0
