Kathleen "Kay" Mary FERGUSON

January 19, 2014

Kathleen “Kay” Mary Ferguson

1 February 1922 – 19 January 2014

Kay passed away early Sunday morning at the NRGH palliative care unit. She had declining health in recent months and despite her resolve to live, her body gave out while her son Alan and daughter in law Pearl were at her side. She died peacefully and without pain.

Born and raised in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, Kay met and married Donald Ferguson during wartime employment. After Don returned from service overseas, they settled in Trail, BC where their son Alan was born.

In 1983 Kay & Don moved to Qualicum Beach after decades in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Kay was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a letter writer until her strength left her unable to do so. She loved her home, enjoyed decorating with great thought, finding just the right antique piece and was a talented oil painter. Kay will be fondly remembered for her sharp wit and sense of humour. She had a committed sense of community and donated her time and financial support to many causes.

She was a parishioner of Saint Marks Anglican Church and loved the traditions of faith and family.

Kay is survived by her son Alan (Pearl), sisters Ruth and Evie, two sisters in law, many nieces and nephews, grandsons Justin (Vanessa) and Shaun (Courtney), and a granddaughter Julia.

She was predeceased by her husband Don and four other siblings.

Funeral service and interment, followed by a tea luncheon will be held on Friday, January 24 at 2:00 pm at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Qualicum Beach.
