Kathlen Lillian Hewitt

January 13, 2003

HEWITT, Kathleen Lillian

Of Parksville, B.C., in her 90th year, January 13, 2003.

Kay was born Kathleen Graham, in Elgin Manitoba, July 26, 1913, and was predeceased by her devoted husband of 58 years, Alfred Harry Hewitt, on September 10, 1996. She is survived and sorely missed by son Donald Alan Hewitt and his wife Katherine Zimmer, of Parksville, and dear sisters Alice Graham and Myrtle Tait of Manitoba. Kay’s extended family included Florence and Bill Davenport and their daughter Deborah Lynn Davenport of Courtenay, BC. Deb’s children Shawn, Christopher and Taleah will mourn the loss of a much loved grandma. Kay leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Canada, and will be especially missed by her fellow residents and caregivers at Arrowsmith Lodge. Kay will be remembered for her heroic spirit, which overcame increasing physical disability, and for her boundless energy and optimism of which she gave so freely to others.

A precious one from us is gone,

A voice we loved is stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts,

That never can be filled.

Thanks to: Dr. L. McClure of Parksville, Kay’s family physician; Internist Dr. L. Winkler of Nanaimo; the emergency room team at N.R.G.H.; the nurses of the 5th floor palliative ward at N.R.G.H; all of whom extended tender care to patient and family alike.

And a special thanks to the staff and residents of Arrowsmith Lodge who welcomed Kay into their home, and made her a part of their family.

No service by request.
